FARMINGTON — Police say they were called to a West Farmington home Sunday where a disagreement escalated. A local man left the home after a gun was waved at him.

David Shanley, 24, faces charges of driving under the influence, driving to endanger, driving after license suspension and violating conditions of release following the incident at 140 Wilton Road at 5:20 p.m. Sunday.

Shanley went to the home near the old Rite Aid building to borrow money from a woman who lived there, said Rachel Heseltine, Farmington Police secretary.

The woman told police she said no to him and they got into an argument in the driveway. She told police Shanley came at her and her boyfriend came out of the home waving a gun.

Shanley threatened the woman and then got in his car and left. She called 911 as did neighbors.  Sgt. Michael Adcock from Farmington Police Department responded.

Franklin County Sheriff Deputy Christopher Chase was in the area. He stopped Shanley and arrested him on the three driving charges.

Adcock charged him with violation of condition of release from an incident in August when police arrested him on charges of criminal mischief and obstructing the reporting of a crime.

Following an argument with his girlfriend, he cut the phone line to a Whittier Road home, took off and led police in a chase through the woods. A police canine tracked him and he was arrested without resistance.

Shanley remains in custody after bail was set Monday at $2,500 cash and a Maine pretrial contract according to an officer at Franklin County Detention Center.
