LaBELLE, Fla. — Richard St. Germain, 69, a longtime resident of LaBelle, Fla., and a native of Lewiston, died of a stroke on Sept. 23.
Richard was born in Lewiston, May 20, 1944, the son of Theode and Yvettte (Jutras) St. Germain. He graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1962. After high school, he attended Hanson’s Barber school and worked as a barber in the area for several years.
He relocated to New Gloucester with his partner for many years, Ruth Trafford. Together they owned and operated the Dairy Bar in Gray. They split their time between Maine and Florida, and enjoyed many years together, until Ruth passed away from cancer.
Richard’s favorite past time was fishing, and living in Florida, allowed him to enjoy this year round. Six years ago, he met and married a beautiful Christian woman named Leslie and they settled in LaBelle. Their happiness was short lived as she developed Alzheimer’s. Richard cared for her the best he could, until she required nursing home care. She passed away nine days after Richard.
Richard is survived by his mother, Yvette of Auburn; his son, John; granddaughter, Elloise of Saco; two brothers, Ray (Anita) and David (Sharon), both of Auburn; two nieces, Renee and Denise; and three nephews, Andy, Justin and Ethan.
He was predeceased by his father, Theode; a brother, Phillip; his grandparents, Hermenegilde and Julia St. Germain and Edmond and Anna Jutras, all of Lewiston.
