Is it just me, or is the Maine Turnpike Authority taking Maine commuters for a ride?

Maine is a large state with a small population. Yes, tourists visit this beautiful state. But how many times is the MTA going to tear down and rebuild the New Gloucester toll booths? How many times is the MTA going to change the system for collecting tolls?

I don’t know about other people, but even with the E-ZPass, going through the E-ZPass lane is at a snail’s pace. I might as well have stopped my car and paid the toll.

Turnpike officials seem to be more concerned about the out-of-state people traveling the turnpike than the everyday Maine commuter.

I thought the Turnpike was going to be a free highway 20 years ago. If Interstate 295 can do it, why can’t the turnpike? At the very least, Maine residents who ride to and from work should travel free.

Start charging anyone without a Maine driver’s license $5 coming into the state and $5 when leaving. Don’t worry, tourists would still come to Maine.

Then get people off welfare and maybe Maine people can start to see an advantage to living in Maine.

I am sure there is waste that can be addressed at the Maine Turnpike Authority. The public already knows there has been corruption.
