RUMFORD — Rumford Grange 115 will host a Halloween party for area children from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Grange Hall.

Community rummage sale

WILTON — A community rummage sale will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on Main Street.

Gently recycled goods are available providing fabulous bargains. Clean used clothing and household items in good repair may be purchased by donations.

Green Church Christmas fair

MEXICO — The annual Christmas fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”). The fair features fresh cider, a bake sale with cookie walk and a wheel of cheddar cheese, raffle items, handmade crafts and gifts, attic treasures, and kids’ room. Coffee and muffins will be served from 9 to 11 and a luncheon at 11:30, which will include chili, corn chowder, sandwiches and apple crisp.

Jones Dance Band at Legion

PARIS — A dance with music by the Jones Dance Band will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24, at the American Legion Hall, Church Street. The cost is $5.

Founders Day potluck supper

OXFORD — The Twin Town Nature Club will meet for its 89th Founders Day potluck supper at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Oxford Congregational Church.

Leroy Zutter will show pictures taken on the recent foliage viewing tour to the Rangeley area. Visitors are welcome.

Good News Club meets Mondays

PERU — The Good News Club, a program of Child Evangelism Fellowship, will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. every Monday at Dirigo Elementary School cafeteria.

All boys and girls ages 5 to 12 are welcome to attend. Children will have Bible lessons, sing songs, play games and have contests. Refreshments will also be served.

Club meetings will be canceled if school is closed. This is not a school-sponsored activity. Registration forms are required and may be obtained by calling Judy Smith at 645-2468.

Hospital hosting book fair

BRIDGTON — Bridgton Hospital will be the host site for a “Books are Fun” Book Fair. The sale runs Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 8, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital. Books are Fun is a Reader’s Digest Company.

The popular twice-yearly sale provides a huge assortment of great new books, as well as gift items, at savings of up to 70 percent. That makes this event an ideal time to purchase for year-round gift giving. A percentage of the book sale profits are donated to the Bridgton Hospital Annual Fund, which benefits all areas of patient care at the not for profit hospital.

Historical Society to meet Nov. 7

NORWAY — The Greenwood Historical Society will meet on Wednesday Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the building at Locke’s Mills. John Davis will present a program on the Canadian National Museum that came through Locke’s Mills on Aug. 12, 1953.

Sign up for Thanksgiving food

RUMFORD — Praise Assembly of God Church will give away free turkeys and food baskets for Thanksgiving.

Beekeepers to give program

BRYANT POND — Honey bees and other pollinators will be the topic presented by Suzanne Dunham at the Whitman Memorial Library on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.

Suzanne and Brian Dunham have been beekeepers for five years. They live in Greenwood on Brian’s family farm where they built their off-the-grid home. They’ve built a sugar house where they boil maple sap, spin honey and do gluten-free baking in their newly approved commercial kitchen.

Suzanne’s talk will describe the practice and mystery of beekeeping and the importance of honeybees and other pollinators to us and the environment. The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.

Masons dinners begin Nov. 11

NEW SHARON — The regular Mason eat-in or take-out dinners will start Sunday, Nov. 11, and will be held the second Sunday of every month through June 9, at the Masonic Lodge Hall, Route 2.
