LIVERMORE FALLS — A Livermore man faces a charge of reckless conduct with a firearm after shots rang out during an altercation with another man Monday night.

Brandon Pearson, 22, was arrested on the misdemeanor charge, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.

Officer Steve Wilkinson and Jay officer Russell Adams responded to a report of a fight at 8:05 p.m. on Fayette Road, also known as Route 17, he said. The caller hung up and there was no more information available at the time.

When police arrived, a man was walking down a driveway and someone at the scene mentioned a firearm, Steward said.

Apparently there was an argument and three shots were fired into the ground, the .22-caliber handgun was tossed into the bushes and the fight turned physical, he said.

Wilkinson is still investigating the incident.

Pearson was arrested and taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. He was released on $200 cash bail early Tuesday, a corrections officer said.

He is scheduled to appear at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 in 8th District Court in Lewiston, Steward said.
