RUMFORD — The annual Homemade For The Holidays church fair at the Rumford United Methodist Church, at 455 Linnell St., is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At the Hospitality Table, Dot Wing will be serving up coffee, tea and fresh doughnuts.
Peggy Welch and Naomi Robertson will be wrapping up items at the Bake Table. There will be lots of goodies for holiday entertaining as well as gift giving.
Craft tables will be full of handcrafted items for gift giving and winter survival pleasure. This year there will be a stunning assortment of gift baskets, all packaged in cellophane and tied with a bow. For sale will be corn bags that can be placed in the microwave for two minutes for instant heat wherever needed. These bags come in washable outer covers. Balsam bags are back this year in several sizes. For pets, there will be catnip pouches, “Pup Cakes” and peanut butter pinecone treats for feathered friends.
The Kitchen Helpers area will have all sorts of hand-crafted items: crochet topped dishtowels, dish cloths, potholders made with heat resistant material and holiday aprons, some reversible, for a Thanksgiving or Christmas hostess gift.
The church ladies have a rich tradition of quilting and their works really shine at the silent auction table. There are many wall hangings, quilts and an assortment of other items. Jane Shuck will be there to explain the process.
The Books and Puzzles area puts in an appearance every two years so don’t miss it. This area is upstairs from the Fellowship Hall and has evolved to also include music and audio CDs, DVDs, VCR tapes and storage units.
A corn chowder lunch will be put on by Judy Kuhn and her able kitchen crew.
