MECHANIC FALLS — Voters ratified a fireworks ordinance 929–524 on Tuesday.
The ordinance allows people to set off fireworks on Friday and Saturday evenings, year-round, from sunset to 10 p.m., and during extended hours on July 3, 4 and 5, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
It stipulates that fireworks cannot be discharged within 150 feet of any combustible structure.
In September, the Town Council, in response to citizen complaints of nightly, noisy celebrations, adopted the ordinance, subject to ratification by townspeople.
