RANGELEY — Selectmen voted unanimously Nov. 8 to authorize Board of Selectmen Chairman Gary Shaffer to sign a settlement agreement between the town and Everett Quimby, according to minutes of the meeting.

The town’s share of the agreement, $145,000, will come out of the town’s legal account.

The town and former Town Manager Perry Ellsworth entered into an agreement Nov. 8 with Quimby, a former Public Works foreman, who was fired in February 2008. Ellsworth agreed to pay $30,000 of the settlement.

The agreement calls for $175,000 to be paid to Quimby, who filed a lawsuit against the town and Ellsworth in 2010. It claimed that Quimby was not afforded due process in his termination as outlined in the town’s personnel policy.
