Service of gratitude

NORWAY — A one-hour church service of gratitude to God will be held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. in the Christian Science church at 5 Morrill Road. The theme of the service is taken from the Bible passage of Malachi, third chapter, verse 10: “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

No collection will be taken, but everyone is encouraged to bring a can of food to be given to the Food Pantry in Norway. For information call 890-9944.

Clothing Center open Dec. 1, 15

HARTFORD — Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open on Saturday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 15, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The Clothing Center is located directly opposite the church.

Chinese auction for youth ministry

OXFORD — The Resistance Ministries, a nonprofit youth ministry, will have their fifth annual “A Christmas to Remember” Chinese auction Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Oxford Recreation Building, King Street.

The auction is open to the public. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with ticket drawing starting at 2 p.m. There will be hundreds of new items along with a dollar table, 50/50 raffle, grab bags and food and drink available for purchase.

Ticket prices at the door start at 100 tickets for $20. There are advance ticket deals, while they last, starting at 200 tickets for $20, 300 tickets for $30, 400 tickets for $35 and 500 tickets for $45. The advance ticket deals are limited to the first 20 people who buy their tickets in advance.

PARIS — An Advent fair will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road.

There will be Rada knives, food, Christmas decorations, a white elephant table and raffles. Coffee and snacks will be served.

Auction benefits AG Society

PARIS — A Take a Chance Auction to benefit Oxford County Agricultural Society will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street.

Doors open at 3 p.m., auction starts at 5. More than 200 hundred items (tools, Christmas items), 50/50 raffle, dollar table items and refreshments will be available.

Christmas Gala, silent auction

NORWAY — Western Maine Art Group is accepting donations for the annual Christmas Gala silent auction to be held Sunday, Dec. 2, at the temporary gallery at 424 Main St. Donations may be dropped off the morning of Saturday, Dec. 1, or any time that the gallery is open prior to that day. Main Street Gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The silent auction will be the group’s only fundraiser for this event since there is no ticket cost this year.

Donations of baked goods, certificates for goods or restaurants, art, crafts, gift baskets, gift bags and more are welcomed. Donors are asked to leave their name with their item as well as approximate value and, if desired, minimum bid that should be accepted. Craft/yard sale, food drive at Grange

NORWAY — A craft/yard sale and food drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2, at the Grange Hall, Whitman Street.

Local crafters and yard sale vendors will offer items for sale. Raffles, lunch and snack food will be available.

Boxes will be available for contribution of nonperishable food items for local food pantries.

The Grange Community Service Committee is hosting the event to help fund its local projects.

Tickets available for Rotary meal

BETHEL — The Rotary Club of Bethel will host its annual country breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Ordway Hall, Gould Academy, Church Street.

The annual event benefits community projects and scholarships. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, breads and beverages.

Advance tickets are $7 for adults; $8 at the door; and children $3. All Bethel Rotary members have advance tickets for sale. For more information and tickets, contact Ellie Andrews, 592-9614.
