Food pantry open Tuesday

WEST PARIS — The food pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Food pantry is open Friday

OTISFIELD — The Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, Rayville Road. The pantry is open on the fourth Friday of every month. For more information, call 539-4619.

Food drive during parade

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Key Club will host a food drive during the annual Thanksgiving parade on Saturday, Nov. 24. Nonperishable food donations would be appreciated.

Historical group meets Nov. 27

HEBRON — Speakers will discuss Medicare, Social Security and wills at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Hebron Historical Society meeting at the town office. The public is invited.

Sunset-moonrise hike at Bald Pate

BRIDGTON —A sunset-moonrise hike up Bald Pate Mountain in South Bridgton will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28.

From the summit of Bald Pate Mountain, participants will watch the western sun set while the bright moon rises to light the way down the mountain. Wear appropriate warm clothing and boots, bring a warm beverage, snacks, flashlight and snowshoes (a few pairs will be available upon request). Meet Loon Echo’s volunteer and stewardship coordinator, Jon Evans, at 3 p.m. in the Bald Pate Mountain parking lot. Sunset is at 4:06 p.m. and moonrise is 4:18 p.m. The moderate hike will take approximately two hours. If it is overcast, event will be canceled.

Christmas tree sale for Hope

RUMFORD — The Christmas tree sale fundraiser for Hope Association will begin with the arrival of fresh-cut Maine trees Thursday, Nov. 29, from Western Maine Nurseries in Fryeburg.

Supply is limited. Trees may be picked up at the What Not Shop between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Trees will also be available at the Christmas in the Valley craft fair on Dec. 1 at Mountain Valley High School. All proceeds help support individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Holiday senior luncheon set

BROWNFIELD — The Harrison Parks and Rec. Fa La La Senior Luncheon will take place Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Stone Mountain Arts Center. Attendees will gather at the public parking lot at the Harrison Town Office at 10:45 and carpool to Brownfield. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Lunch served at noon will feature homemade corn bread, garden salad, roast chicken with cranberry glaze, potatoes, veggies, dessert and coffee. Beer and wine are available. Between courses Stone Mountain Art Center will show famous and heartwarming holiday movie clips from favorite Christmas movies. Cost is $35; Harrison residents, $25.

A Senior Social will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Community Room. There will be word games, guess jar, bingo and food. Cost is $3 or donation.

CMCC course registration

FRYEBURG/BETHEL — Oxford County residents interested in taking Central Maine Community College courses in the spring semester are invited to attend one of the registration nights to be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fryeburg Academy (snow date Dec. 5) or Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Telstar Regional High School.

Michelle Hawley, CMCC student services representative for Oxford County, will be on hand to discuss course offerings, degree programs and financial aid. Students will be able to register for courses at either of the registration sessions. Checks made out to CMCC will be required for payment. Spring semester classes begin Jan. 14, but space is limited. A complete list of course offerings in Oxford County is available at www.cmcc.edu/off_campus.
