AUGUSTA — Robert H. Croteau, 86, of Waterboro and formerly of Lewiston, died Sunday, Nov. 18, at Togus Veterans Hospital in Augusta.

Robert was born in Lewiston on Nov. 20, 1925, the son of Henry and Bernadette Plante Croteau. Robert grew up in Lewiston and was educated in Lewiston schools. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Robert was former president of the Pastime Club for many years and was employed at Cushman Shoe and other shoe shops in the Lewiston and Auburn area.

Robert married Marie Rose Gagne Samson on July 5, 1969.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie Rose; and his two sisters, Louise Ouellette of Auburn and Claire Langelier and husband, Lionel of Florida. “Uncle Bob” also leaves six nieces and a nephew.

Robert was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Ludger Croteau; a brother-in-law, Norman Ouellette; and his nephew and godson, Paul Ouellette.
