NORWAY – Phillip C. Whittemore of 98 Main St., Norway, passed away on Nov. 21 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Castine on Aug. 31, 1931, son of Wendell and Elsie (Hodsdon) Whittemore. He graduated from Norway High School with the Class of 1949. He attended Roberts Technical Trade School in Boston, Mass. and returning home, he owned and operated Whittemore’s Auto Body Shop for 20 years.

He was a Korean War veteran and also a member of the Norway American Legion Post #0082.

On June 19, 1955, he married Jeanne Lamb in West Paris. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Wayne and Blaine. Wayne married Berdina and she was like a daughter to him. Then came his pride and joy, Christopher David Whittemore, his only grandchild. They had a very special bond and Chris loved having Grandpa take him to the waterfront in Portland and to Old Orchard Beach.

Phil loved driving his Winnebago Motorhome and loved to tell people about the trip that he and Jeanne took out to Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone. They were gone a month.

Phil is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanne; and his sons, Wayne and Blaine; daughter-in-law, Berdina; grandson, Christopher; sister, Elaine Gilman; sisters-in-law, Elaine Blossom, Cynthia Lamb and Jennie Lamb; brother-in-law, J. Hayward Lamb; and many nieces and nephews.

Phil will be sorely missed by his Double Dapple Dachshund, Fryeburg.

Whittemore- Phillip C. Whittemore of Norway died Wednesday November 21st at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. on Monday the 26th at the Lakeview Cemetery on the Watson Road in Norway. Following the graveside service there will be a reception at the Universalist Church in South Paris located on Pine Street.
