LEWISTON — Albertine M. Allain, 93, formerly of Brentwood Avenue in Lewiston died Monday, Nov. 26, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion following a long illness.

She was born in Winslow, Dec. 22, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Alexandrine (Gilbert) Lemieux.

Albertine loved to knit especially mittens and dish cloths that were donated by her for fundraisers at both St. Louis Church fairs and for the Maine Children’s Cancer Fund. Her favorite time of year were the holidays and enjoying visits with family.

Over the years, both Albertine and her husband, Louis, grieved over the loss of their only child, John, who was tragically lost in an accident more than 30 years ago. Albertine coped with the loss through her faith saying the Rosary for her son everyday.

Survivors include two brothers, Donald Lemieux and wife, Olive, of Winslow and Felix Lemieux of Waterville; three sisters, Madeline Dunbar and husband, Daniel, Jeannette and Constance Lemieux, all from Winslow; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen MacDonald and husband, Charles, of Auburn; two grandchildren, Cheryl Fraser of Randolph, Mass., and Louis John Allain of Auburn; three great-grandchildren, Robin, John and Joseph Allain; as well as two special nieces, Charlene Henderson and Lorraine Rosco.

Besides her husband, Louis Allain, who died Jan. 4, 2000; she was predeceased by three sisters, Beatrice Paradis, Lorraine and Cyprienne Lemieux; and two brothers, Romeo and Robert Lemieux.
