FARMINGTON —  The Old South Church sanctuary will host the third annual Christmas Carol Sing and Holiday Music Benefit on Sunday, Dec. 2, beginning at 3 p.m. A free will offering will be accepted at the door to help support the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry Fuel Assistance Fund.

According to program director, Rev. Susan Crane, within the first week fuel assistance was extended to more than 100 families. Not only does the FAEM Fuel Assistance Fund supplement the federal program it also helps fill the gaps for many other needy families. Last year the Carol Sing organized by the Old South Church Fundraising Committee, in partnership with the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministries, raised $1500. This year the hope is to exceed that and raise at least $2000 for the Fuel Assistance Fund.

Along with the sing-a-long of selected favorite Christmas carols accompanied by Patricia Hayden, special musical guests will include the Old South Church Women’s Drumming group InnerRythm with guest drummer Jim Wahlstrom; newly organized Mt. Blue High School Chamber Singers under the direction of Carol Shumway; the always popular a cappella ensemble Mt. Blue Voices under the direction of Dennis Hayes; organ and piano accompanist and featured organ soloist Patricia Hayden; and FAEM All-Church Guest Choir directed by Sandra Hoyt of Trinity Methodist Church. The final selection will be a sing-a-long of “Adeste Fideles.”

Raffle tickets will be on sale in the church vestry for the quilt donated by the Maine Mountain Quilters before, during intermission and after the program. The winning ticket will be drawn on Dec. 15.

Refreshments will be available by donation in the vestry during intermission.
