SeniorsPlus is a private, nonprofit corporation whose mission is to support independent living and healthy aging. It serves as the local Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Center for Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford Counties. SeniorsPlus provides a network of support, information, services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.

Genealogy: A one-on-one class held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dec. 4, 6, 11, 13 and 18 with the following available time slots: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.; and 3 to 4 p.m. Instructor Carroll Holmes will work with attendees individually using genealogical websites to find people on your family tree. Bring your curiosity, your knowledge and information (names, dates, places) you may have.

Art that Leaves with You!: Monday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon with instructor Jim Dunn. Cost: $45 supplies, lesson. No experience necessary. The instructor guides you each step of the way. You’ll leave with a landscape in oils that you did yourself.

Medicare Basics: Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. Instructor: Roland Bussiere, SeniorsPlus. Come learn the basics and timelines of this complex system, learn when you need to sign up for what and ways to save money.

Gidgets, Gadgets and Thingamabobs: Making Life Easier at Home: Thursday, Dec. 13, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Instructor: Jeff Auger, CARES, Inc. The CARES program has a myriad of devices to loan you that help make it easier to stay at home independently and safely. Come look/touch/play with these gidgets, gadgets and thingamabobs that are ready for you to try out and borrow for 30 days. Items range from a talking blood pressure cuff, a Kindle and talking clocks to an iPad.

What’s Happening to My Body As It Ages?: This month, Dr. Alan Verrill, CMMC hospitalist, celebrates his top 10 health tips. Class is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19.
