AUBURN — A man died Saturday after his truck went off the road in Auburn, but police believe his death was not a result of the accident.

Auburn police said they got a call around 11:30 a.m. from passers-by who were performing CPR on a 56-year-old man whose pickup truck had gone off Beech Hill Road near Martindale Country Club.

When police arrived, they found the truck on the side of the road, but it was undamaged. The man, however, was in such medical distress that passers-by were performing CPR.

The man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he died, police said. The man’s name was not released because his family had not yet been notified.
