Bake, food sale on Dec. 8 at home

AUBURN — A bake/food sale with white elephant items will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home, 85 Caron Lane, off Minot Avenue. There will also be raffles.

Travelers group to meet Dec. 8

MECHANIC FALLS — Members of Twin City Council 160 of the United Commercial Travelers of America will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Bucknam Oaks. Following the meeting a potluck supper will be served. Members are reminded to bring a gift for the gift exchange following the meal. All members and guests are invited.

New Auburn tree lighting

AUBURN — The tree lighting in New Auburn will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Sullivan Square, 8 South Main St., behind Rolly’s Diner.

Santa’s travel route will be Raymond Park, South Main Street, Broad Street, Mill Street and end at Sullivan Square at 4:30 p.m.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be available. The event is sponsored by United New Auburn Association.

La Leche League meeting Dec. 12

AUBURN — The La Leche League offers breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant women, new mothers and growing families. Services offered include monthly meetings and 24-hour telephone help.

All interested women are invited to attend the next meeting to be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion in addition to the scheduled topic, “Breastfeeding, the Mother-Baby Relationship, and the Weaning Process.” The discussion will include nutrition for nursing mothers, introducing solids to baby and the weaning breastfed baby. Eastern Star meeting Dec. 13

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26 Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The group will be honoring past matrons and past patrons.

Bring a filled Christmas stocking for the less fortunate children. A potluck supper will be served at 6 p.m. before the meeting. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Civil War Round Table lecture

BRUNSWICK — Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Round Table lecture will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Curtis Memorial Library, Morrell Room, 23 Pleasant St. Speaker will be Robert Webb on “Every Sea Divided: American Whaling During the Civil War.”

Christmas skate night

TOPSHAM — A Christmas Skate Night sponsored by Grace Community Chapel in West Gardiner will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Topsham Roller World, 20 Atwood Drive.

Cost is $5, which includes regular skates. Inline skates are $2 extra.

Only Christian music will be played. Anyone with Christian CDs, especially Christmas ones, may bring them and they will be played if time allows.
