Coach: Heidi Deery (19th year)

Last year’s record: 18-3, lost in Western D final

Returning players: Seniors — Abby Abbott (5-9 guard), Jenney Abbott (5-10 center; Junior — Tori Letarte (5-8 guard); Sophomores — Valerie Roy-Lessard (5-8 forward), Seve Deraps (5-9 guard), Taylor Esty (6-1 forward); Freshmen — Shelby Elmes (5-6 guard),  Blayke Morin (6-1 center), Maddison Egan (5-6 guard).

Key losses: Emily Carrier (guard), Chantal Carrier (forward).

Promising newcomers: Junior — Emina Gunic (6-2 forward); Freshman — Michaela Shorey (5-4 guard); Eighth grader — Celia Philbrick (5-7 guard).

Outlook: Rangeley only graduated two players but the Carrier sisters were key players and leaders for the Lakers the past few years.  The Lakers still have some experience and size. Abby Abbott missed much of last year due to an injury. Rangeley will need players to fill the void left by the Carriers, but the Lakers have some depth and talent to work with.

Coach’s comment: “We are looking to bring a lot of intensity to the game and set the tempo,  controlling boards is a focus as well. We have been heavily effected by injuries in the last two years. So we are focused on doing what we can to stay healthy this year.” — Coach Heidi Deery.
