FALMOUTH — The Maine Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club will hold a Winter Outings Skills workshop at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center, 20 Gilsland Farm Road.

AMC Maine Chapter leaders Peter Broderick and Laura Flight will discuss clothing, gear, snow travel and other essential knowledge to prepare for outdoor outings in the winter. This event is intended as an introduction course for experienced three-season hikers and a refresher for experienced winter adventurers.

Although the focus of the workshop is on hiking in the winter, many of the topics apply to any outdoor winter outing. This workshop will be an excellent “things-you-need-to-know-before-you-go” for anyone who will be spending time out of doors this winter. This event is free and open to the public.

Parking is available on site. For more information, contact Laura Flight at [email protected] or (207) 215-5306.
