1932 – 2012

JAY — Priscilien “Pete” R. Henry, 80, a resident of Juniper Road, Jay, died peacefully at home, Friday, Dec. 7, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 14, 1932, in Jay, the son of Marcel and Celina (Legere) Henry. He was a 1950 graduate of Jay High School. Pete served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

On Oct. 7, 1961, at St. Rose of Lima Church, he married his wife of 51 years, Elaine Tardif of Jay. Pete worked for IP in Jay for 47 years, retiring in 1997. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, having served for many years as a eucharistic minister and choir member.

He was a member of the American Legion Blue Falcon Drum and Bugle Corp; and the IP Quarter Century Club.

Pete loved dancing, especially tap dancing, was an avid history buff, enjoyed traveling, going on bus tours, the coast, Old Orchard Beach, and going to the union hall and socializing with former co-workers. He especially loved following the interests of his daughter and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Henry of Jay; his daughter, Karen Trask of Saco; three grandchildren, Katherine and Tucker Trask and Shawn Henry; two brothers, Patrick Henry and his wife, Theresa, of Augusta and Raymond Henry of Livermore; his sister, Laurette Poulin of Farmington; brother-in-law, Richard Tardif and his wife, Gloria, of Jay; brother-in-law, Roger Langlois of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Elise Langlois, Rose Leblanc and Edmee Frechette; brothers, Fidele and Phillip Henry; father and mother-in-law, Andrea and Jeanne d’arc Tardif; brothers-in-law, John Frechette and Alfred Leblanc; and sisters-in-law, Gloria and Candide Henry.
