MONMOUTH — Dominic Haines dominated the scoring with 19 points to lead Mountain Valley to a 57-44 victory over Monmouth in boys’ basketball action Saturday.
The Falcons (3-1) placed 16 points on the board in each of the first two quarters to take a 32-20 halftime lead.
Ryan Nicols contributed 14 points on six field goals, including a pair from three-point range.
Junior Marcques Houston provided a team-high 12 points for the Mustangs (3-2), while Brandon Goff chipped in with 10 points in the losing effort.
Lisbon 75, Carrabec 43
LISBON — Tucker Brannon threw in the game-high 21 points and Lisbon had a 29-point outburst in the second quarter as the Greyounds rolled over winless Carrabec, 75-43, in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.
Lisbon (2-4) hopped out to a 39-23 lead at halftime and then held the Cobras (0-5) to single-digit scoring in the third quarter. Brad Groh scored 13 points for the Greyhounds.
For Carrabec, Richard Hayton scored 12 points.
Girls’ basketball
Spruce Mountain 57, Wiscasset 29
WISCASSET — Sam Richards scored 10 points in a well-balanced attack as Spruce Mountain wisked a 57-29 victory from Wiscasset in girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Phoenix (5-0) were devastating with the full court pressure, creating 31 turnovers. Richards also tabulated seven rebounds and four steals.
Briana Good and Heidi Pinkham had three-point field goals for the Wolverines (2-3), while Wiscasset didn’t need any for a winning effort.
Carrabec 42, Lisbon 31
LISBON — Carrabec snagged a 42-31 triumph over Lisbon as the Greyhounds ran out of steam in the second half in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
Senior forward Denise Thomas garnered a team-high nine points for the Greyhounds (2-4).
The game remainined tight in the first half as Lisbon took a 22-20 lead into the half.
But the Greyhounds failed to control the ball in the second half and the Cobras (2-4) took advantage by pulling away.
Girls’ hockey
York 1, Leavitt-EL 0
ROCHESTER, N.H. — Senior center Rachel Yorke scored the game’s lone goal in the third period to lift York to a 1-0 victory over Leavitt-Edward Little in girls’ ice hockey action.
Danica Nadeau had an outstanding game on defense for the Red Hornets (7-1).
Tori Sanford made 14 saves for Leavitt-Edward Little, while goalie Olivia Drew turned back 17 shots in net for the Wildcats (6-1-1).
