DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am hoping that there is someone out there with true holiday spirit.

On Thursday, Dec. 20, my husband went out to the Lewiston Mall to start his Christmas shopping. From the time he parked the car and went into the mall he somehow lost $1,500 cash out of his pants’ pocket.

I am hoping that there is a Christmas angel with a good heart who will see this plea and return the money to the Lewiston Police Department. My husband is on disability and has had two massive heart attacks.

This has caused him extreme stress and loss of sleep. Please help to convince him that there are still good people in this world. We are offering a reward to whoever finds this money and does the right thing. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots is so sorry, and she hopes that the money is returned.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: While finishing up my Christmas shopping at Walmart in Mexico on Dec. 18 around 2 p.m., I had a pleasant Christmas surprise.

I was stopped by a lady who asked me if I was doing my Christmas shopping. I said yes. She said, “I would like to help you out” and handed me a $50 bill. I did manage to give her a thank-you, but I was so shocked I didn’t get a chance to show my real gratitude for this gesture.

By the time I came to, she had already walked away and I could not find her. I hope that lady reads this because it is truly a lovely gesture. It goes to show that there are people in this world who have a giving heart.

I just wished I would have thought of saying all of this when she was right there. I hope that this act of kindness returns to her in more ways than one. It is people like that who deserve it. — Danielle, nutmeg_1@hotmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the Dec. 6 obituary for Barbara Welch it mentioned that Mrs. Welch thought of Diane Cordell (Lothrop) as a daughter.

I am wondering if this is the same Diane I knew.

In 1947 I lived with George and Louise Lothrop in Bethel, first on Main Street and then on Route 2 in Bethel. They had a daughter named Diane. I would love to know if this is the same Diane that I knew.

When I lived with them my last name was Farnum, and then I married Bob Lowe. He passed away, and seven years later I married Rich Grover.

I would like to get in touch with Diane if for no more reason than to send a Christmas card. — Ramona Grover, Mason Township, groverramona@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for names and photos of deceased members of New Auburn Seniors.

I came across a memory book, dated back in 1970, with newspaper clippings. If your readers know anyone who has passed and was a member of New Auburn Seniors, I will be happy to place them in the memory book for future members.

Please mail me the clippings. — Virginia LeVasseur, 177 Sopers Mill Road, Auburn, ME 04210
