DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery come from Maine. How does someone get to go with them to Arlington? I have it on my bucket list and promised myself someday I would do this.

Sun Spots is such a great recourse for our community. Thank you for all you do. — No Name via email

ANSWER: You can find the information you need at the website for Wreaths Across America (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/events/escort-to-arlington).

Some people “escort” the wreaths on the drive from Maine to Arlington; some volunteer to help place the wreaths; others do both.

The website said that the state police limit the number of personal vehicles in the escort, so a bus is hired with seats assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to the website, if you do drive your own vehicle, the escort guidelines include:

* Vehicle registration, with insurance up to date.

* Vehicle lights in working order.

* Recommend each vehicle have an EZPass for tolls.

* All hotel room reservations need to be booked and paid for by each individual.

* Wreaths Across America will not assume any responsibility for individual hotel reservations or cost.

This year the deadlines for signing up was Nov. 15, so if you want to go, you’ll need to check it out early.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would the person wanting information on the Titanic disaster (Dec. 13) please call me. I have some information. — Sheila Patrick, Lewiston, 783-9747

ANSWER: The person inquiring didn’t want information on the disaster but rather was looking for the gold commemorative coins, but perhaps someone will be interested.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I don’t know if you can answer this. I don’t have a computer.

On the game show “Wheel of Fortune” how does Pat Sajak know how many letters are in the word before they even light up? Is he reading a monitor or what?

Also, the girls on the “Price Is Right,” sometimes they are pregnant, then a couple shows later, they aren’t. Do they mix the reruns in with the new ones? — Tree Farmer, Peru

ANSWER: According to chacha.com, all the letters in the answer are counted ahead of time, so when a letter is selected Pat has only to look at the teleprompter for the correct answer.

As for the now-they’re-pregnant, now-they’re-not, that is undoubtedly due to reruns being interspersed with new shows. If not, someone has amazing reproductive powers and could make a mint!

In the “olden days,” the seasons for television shows had an established set schedule for new shows. They premiered in the fall and ran through to spring with only occasional interruptions.

Cable TV has changed all that. Now new shows, or episodes of new shows, premiere year-round, and entertainment executives attempt to compete by altering their schedules as well.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you please find out what “207” stands for on Channel 6 at 7 p.m. with Rob and Kathleen. — Dawn, Mexico

ANSWER: Sun Spots emailed WCSH Channel 6 to ask but should have figured it out herself: It’s the telephone area code for Maine.

DEAR SUN SPOTS LADY: You know so much, so I have to ask you: Would you please know the address for American Thread? I wonder if they are still around? The only thing I can read on the label is Stamford, Conn.

Thank you very much. — Heidi Weber, Dryden

ANSWER: As far as Sun Spots can ascertain, the mills in Connecticut closed in 1985. There is actually a website for americanthread.com, but it is for a condominium complex in New York City that took over the old American Thread headquarters. It’s a beautiful building and takes up a whole corner on Broadway.
