BRUNSWICK — Ameranouche (pronounced uh-MARE-uh-noosh), the New Hampshire-based Gypsy jazz/acoustic trio, will be performing at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, at The Frontier Cafe, 14 Maine St., Fort Andross, Mill #3, Brunswick. The Ameranouche trio features two French acoustic Gypsy jazz guitars and upright bass, and is a winner of two “Best of New Hampshire” awards, as well as being veterans of the famed Newport Jazz Festival. The group tours nationally, year-round, and has released three albums of largely original music inspired by the legendary Gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt.

“National Lampoon” film director, Kevin Wheatly, called Ameranouche “the new sound of America.” His enthusiasm is understandable after hearing the trio sail through a tune with versatile musicality, and signature, jaw-dropping velocity. “In my opinion, more than an exceptional form of gypsy-oriented jazz, Ameranouche is a capture of joyfulness itself. We sometimes forget what’s most valuable within the presence of artists, until we’re most of all affected when that happiness is projected thru the talent of those who are truly gifted to do so,” said Wheatly.

Ameranouche features Richard “Shepp” Sheppard on solo guitar, Jack Soref on rhythm guitar, and Michael Harrist on upright bass. About the new CD, “Des Histoires Simples,” band leader Sheppard said, “Like the name implies, it is about the simple things in life. Stories of the connective commonalities we all share, family, friends, loves, and dreams in a collection of 10 songs, nine original compositions, and one by the great Django Reinhardt.”
