AUBURN — Doris Louise Sullivan, 88, of Auburn, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility, following a short illness.

She was born at her home on the family farm in Durham, Feb. 12, 1924, the daughter of the late Harry A. and Maude (Moore) Davis. Doris was educated in Durham at a one-room schoolhouse and finished high school at Edward Little High School on Academy Street in Auburn in 1941.

After school, she worked as a secretary at Walton Junior High School then went on to work as a bookkeeper at Central Maine Power, where she met and married James E. Sullivan in 1945. They resided in Auburn raising three boys, until moving to Sanford in 1962.

Doris was an avid sports enthusiast supporting her boys through their high school careers. She loved the Red Sox and Patriots as well.

She was a hard worker but always had something good to say about everybody. She loved social events, church functions, playing beano and family get-togethers.

After Jim died in 1973, Doris started an antique business in downtown Hallowell. Her sewing circle included Slate’s Restaurant and Cox Memorial Church. She later relocated back to Auburn, living at the Towne House on Lake Auburn Avenue, before entering Clover.

Doris is survived by her sons, Michael Sullivan and his wife, Pam, of Turner, Daniel Sullivan and his wife, Jeanne, of Gorham and Barry Sullivan and his wife, Susan, of Brewer; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two older brothers, Forrest and Harold Davis; and one younger brother, Robert Davis.
