Knights honor men, family

JAY — The Knights of Columbus, Council 320 of Jay met Jan. 8 with George Doiron, Grand Knight, presiding. Meeting opened with a prayer and a salute to the flag. The group named Neil Bourgoin and Timothy Welsh as men of the year for 2013 in recognition of their dedication and hard work for the chapter and the community.

Michael and Helen Hobbs were named family of the year 2013, as well, for their dedication to their church organizations and the community.

It was also voted to hold a summer raffle again this year to get the cost of the elevator paid in full this year. More information on the raffle will come later.

The free supper will continue to be held every second Saturday of the month. This month it will be held on Jan. 12 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will be meat loaf, potatoes, soup, vegetable and desserts.

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Grange will hold a public baked bean supper on Saturday, Jan. 26, serving between 4 and 6 p.m.

Menu is baked beans, salads, casseroles, biscuits and homemade pies. Adults, $7; child, $3.

Savvy Caregiver Training starts

FARMINGTON/PARIS —  SeniorsPlus announces Savvy Caregiver training scheduled to begin on Mondays starting Jan. 28 in Franklin and Oxford counties.

The training will help those caring for a family member with dementia to learn how to take care of themselves, reduce stress and also communicate more easily with the loved one. This is a six-week workshop, with each session lasting two hours.

Sessions will be held at DHHS Farmington, 114 Corn Shop Lane, Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or at DHHS South Paris, 243 Main St., Suite 6, Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m.

Passport dinner goes to Sicily

WILTON — The next Wilson Grange Passport Dinner, planned for 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, will take diners to the beautiful Island of Sicily.

Chef Frank is half Sicilian. Pam ‘Delicious’ is already working on a dessert that will transport attendees to the island. Dinners have been selling out fast so do not wait until the last minute.

The cost is $12 per person. Reservations are a must. Call 645-2400 or chriskraussme@gmail.com. A vegetarian option will be available but it must be made with the reservation.

Grange members are still collecting books for the Wilton Library Summer Sale.
