LEWISTON — Roland G. Pepin, 81, of Sabattus died Thursday, Jan. 10, at Marshwood Health Care Facility following a short illness.

He was born in Auburn, Nov. 22, 1931, the son of the late Romeo and Gracia (Dupuis) Pepin.

He was employed at the Falcon Shoe Factory and then entered the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. When he returned to Maine in 1990, he worked as a waiter at both The Harvest House and Martindale Country Club until his retirement.

Roland enjoyed playing cribbage, other card games and holey board and shooting pool.

He was an ultra competitive candle pin bowler. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Sabattus Senior Citizens and the Lewiston Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife, the former Phyllis M. Raniero, whom he married on May 3, 1981 of Sabattus; one son, Jerry Pepin and his wife, Bernadette, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Barbara Pepin and Cheryl Franco and her husband, Anthony, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Pepin, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a nephew, Ronnie Bannister and his wife, Diane, of Massachusetts; and many cousins, whom he enjoyed spending time with.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Marshwood Health Care Facility for the wonderful care they have given to Roland.
