It would appear that one minute after midnight on a Wednesday morning is not the psychological moment to start to move buildings. Therefore the Lisbon street building moving show was not pulled off as scheduled earlier in the week by the official mover. The building which contains the office of Odlin & Odlin, real estate agents and formerly containing the Dairy Lunch, has been elevated to the desired height, is well blocked and thoroughly propped. However, last night it was stated that in all probability the order to “weigh anchor” would not be given until Saturday night.

50 years ago, 1963
(Editorial) No one has been doing a more valuable or more conscientious job of keeping the record straight as regards air service to the Twin Cities than the Lewiston city controller, Laurier T. Raymond. True, he is chairman of the Lewiston-Auburn Joint Airport Committee, but his service has been “above and beyond the call of duty” in both of his capacities. Chairman Raymond has kept in close touch with the long, drawn out, frequently frustrating and always confusing situation relative to past, present and future air service in this area. He has not hesitated to take Northeast Airlines to task when he has felt the carrier was in the wrong.

25 years ago, 1988
It appears Auburn’s old-fashioned way of counting voters’ ballots by hand may soon go by the boards. City Clerk Mary Lou Magno says she favors automating the process by buying tabulators used by 18 Maine communities. She is recommending the City Council appropriate $36,300 to buy six automatic counters that would replace poll workers who are becoming scarcer and scarcer, she said.
