JAY — The town is looking for three people to complete the Jay Development Committee.

There is a need for a regular member and two alternates, Town Manager Ruth Cushman said.

Selectmen Pearl Cook and Tom Goding have agreed to represent the Board of Selectmen.

Selectmen have asked Cushman to work on economic development during the time she has left as manager, she said.

Cushman signed a one-year contract that begins on July 1 but it doesn’t mean she will stay that long. She plans to help the town find a new town manager.

Once everybody is on board, she said meetings will be scheduled.

Currently, they are held once a month on average and may be more often if there is a potential lead on a business to come to the town.

“I want to see movement. I don’t want to see nonmovement,” Goding said when he volunteered to serve during the selectmen’s Jan. 14 meeting.

Selectman Tim DeMillo said he would like to see Jay attract more businesses. The town of Livermore Falls has done that, he said.

That town is working to revitalize its downtown and has a new medical arts center, and the Lamb Block and Bank Building have been renovated for new businesses.
