FARMINGTON — Students at Mt. Blue High School were taken outside for about 20 minutes Tuesday morning when a smoke detector in a stairwell went off.
Farmington Fire and Rescue responded to the 9:10 a.m. alarm.
The stairwell leads to a second floor in a newly completed section of the building. The reason for the alarm activation is unknown, fire Chief Terry Bell said.
“It’s a new building, and until the bugs are worked out, we may be there some for a while,” Bell said.
The school did a good job getting the students out while the department checked the alarm, he added.
