1936 – 2013

LEWISTON — Louise G. Poliquin, 76, of Sabattus Street, Lewiston, died Friday, Feb. 1, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Livermore Falls on Feb. 23, 1936, a daughter of the late Wilfred D. and Yvonne (Blanchette) Gagnon. Louise graduated from the Academy of St. Joseph in South Berwick as valedictorian of the Class of 1953.

Louise married the love of her life, James Poliquin, on Feb. 4, 1956, in Chisholm.

She worked for TJ Murphy, Desjardin’s Furs, Raytheon, Holiday Inn and then went on to work for 12 years for Sen. Bill Hathaway. She later retired from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She was a member of Holy Family Church, was on the board at The Salvation Army, a member of Altrusa and was a Journey Woman.

Louise leaves her husband of 57 years, James Poliquin of Lewiston; two sisters, Juliette Desrochers and husband, Bertrand, of Lewiston and Sister Janet Gagnon of Waterville; a brother, Michael J. Gagnon and wife, Karen, of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Wilfred H. Gagnon.
