MINOT — Selectmen on Monday reviewed and signed the warrant for the annual town meeting, the business portion of which is scheduled for Saturday, March 2.

Municipal elections are set for Friday, March 1.

Townspeople will elect two selectmen and two representatives to the RSU 16 School Committee.

According to Town Clerk Angeliec Goulding, the ballot this year has no contested races. In fact, only one name appears on the ballot as running for selectman, that of Steve French, who is currently on the board.

Selectman Dan Gilpatric, whose three-year term on the board is also expiring, missed the deadline for filing his nomination papers and has announced that he is running as a write-in candidate.

Seeking to fill two seats on the RSU 16 School Committee are Steve Holbrook and Annette Hemond.

Holbrook is currently on the committee. Hemond, a former committee member, is seeking the seat now occupied by Sue Callahan, who is not running for another term.

Goulding announced that absentee ballots are available at the Town Office.

Selectmen also:

* Reviewed materials for the annual town report, giving Town Administrator Arlan Saunders the go-ahead to take it to the printers.

Saunders said copies of the town report should be available Friday, Feb. 15.

* Agreed to hold a public hearing on adoption of amendments to the town’s Floodplain Management Ordinance at its next meeting, Monday, Feb. 18. Adoption of the amendments will be set before voters at town meeting.

* Learned that Budget Committee member Colleen Quint has agreed to serve as the town’s representative on the RSU 16 Budget Committee as it prepares next year’s school budget.

In other business:

* Saunders reported that he has secured, at no cost to the town, two new portable narrow-band radios and three used mobile units. He estimated their value at about $3,600.

He said he had received an email from Androscoggin Emergency Management, informing him that the Maine State Police had made some radios available to public works departments, “first come, first served.”
