Valentine’s Day Social for seniors

RUMFORD — Rumford Senior Center will host a St. Valentine’s Day Social at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Desserts and coffee will be served while Sammi Angel provides a Valentine’s Day program.

The event is free but donations would be greatly appreciated. The public is invited. Call by Feb. 11 to make reservations.

SeniorsPlus at town halls

RUMFORD — SeniorsPlus, the Area Agency on Aging, will be at the Greenwood Town Office on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Norway Town Hall, Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m., and at the Rumford Town Office, Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions or concerns.

Quilt group to meet Feb. 14

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street.

Donations are still being accepted for the baby shower to benefit Newborns in Need. A rotary cutter demonstration is planned and instructions on making a bottle cap finger pincushion will be presented. To make one at the meeting, bring a plastic soda bottle cap, needle, thread and scissors. Other supplies needed for the project will be provided.

RAQ members are asked to bring items for show and tell. All area quilters are invited. For more information call 562-7050.

Sunday River snowshoe walk

NEWRY — As part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, the Mahoosuc Land Trust and the Western Maine Senior College will feature a guided snowshoe trek in the Sunday River Valley on Saturday, Feb. 16.

A gentle snowshoe walk will feature naturalist Rick Churchill’s observations of the winter landscape. Meet at the Sunday River Inn at 10 a.m. Parking is across the street and snowshoe rentals are available. Bring water, a snack and a camera. For more information, call 824-3806.
