LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education has more than 30 personal enrichment courses courses starting up this winter/early spring, in subjects including arts, crafts, music, dance, cooking, wellness, computers and personal finance. These courses provide a great way for individuals to get out in the community, be creative, meet new people and learn a new skill.

Upcoming art and craft classes include “The Joy of Oil Painting,” “Drawing by Observation,” “One-Stroke Painting,” “The Magic of Collage,” “Wrought Iron-Handled Pie Basket,” “Leather-Handled Tote Basket,” plus multiple levels of knitting and crocheting.

Two brand new music classes will be available, “Beginning Singing” and “Introduction to Songwriting.” A beginner/intermediate guitar course will again be available.

Many cooking classes will also be held this winter/spring: “Savory Herb, Pepper and Garlic Jellies,” “Easter Chocolates for Families,” “Drying Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs,” “Homemade Breadmaking” and “Rhubarb Orange Chutney.”

Lewiston Adult Education will offer a large variety of wellness, fitness and dance courses, including “Hypnosis for Weight Loss,” “Your Mighty Feet,” “Stay Fit While You Sit,” “Couples Swedish/Deep Tissue Massage Workshop,” “Heartsaver CPR, First Aid and AED Training,” “Golf for Beginners” and “Line Dance.”

Upcoming computer courses will include “Computer Basics for Seniors,” “WordPress for Beginners” and “Introduction to Web Design.”

Personal finance/business classes will include “The Legal Aspects of Starting Your Own Business,” “Landlord Tenant Law,” “Tax-Efficient Investing” and “Retirement Realities.”

Workshops on home and family issues will include “Keep House Like a Pro” and “Talking with Parents about Advance Funeral Planning,” plus several new workshops for caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease.
