GRISWOLD, Conn. — Yvonne M. Ward, 95, of 19 Woodcrest Drive, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 19, 1917, in Lewiston, daughter to the late Patrick and Yvonne (Labbe) Nadeau. On July 6, 1940, she was married to John H. Ward. He predeceased her in July 1992.
Yvonne was a part of the shoe manufacturing of Norwich in the 1960s. She was also a seamstress for Majestic Trouser Co. and Mastikure in Norwich.
Yvonne loved and cherished her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, visiting, entertaining and fine dining followed by her Breve Latte at Starbucks.
She had a strong, love filled bond with her great-grandson, Jacob. Seeing him would always bring a smile to her face and would enlighten her day. She had looked after him since he was an infant and it grew into an irreplaceable relationship. She now looks down on us, keeping watch, to ensure we are all safe.
She is survived by her son, Dennis J. Ward; her daughter, Janice Ward-Lach; a sister, Theresa Harris; brother-in-law, Milton F. Ward and his wife, Cora; grandchildren, Michael Lach and his wife, Mellissa, Monique Lach-Tatro, Denise Ward Schreiter and her husband, Thomas and Janice Ward Hughes and her husband, Eric; great-grandchildren, Jacob Tatro, Madison Lach, Tarryn Schreiter, Ellie Hughes, Andrew Schreiter and Maddalyn Hughes; nieces and nephews, Arlene Duclos and her husband, Paul, Ralph and Donna Nadeau, Mike Nadeau and their sister, Janie, Jacquie Allaire and her husband, Gene, Laurent Nadeau, Martin Nadeau, Norman Nadeau and his wife, Tina, Howard and Fran Ward and Sheila Ward; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Robert, Rene and Angie Nadeau.
