1931 – 2013
LEWISTON — Daniel J. Isabel, 81, a resident of Sheldon Place, Lewiston, died unexpectedly Saturday evening at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Portland, April 22, 1931, the son of Aime and Lilly (Laprise) Isabel.
Dan was a graduate of St. Dominic’s High School and the Brooklyn State Hospital as a registered nurse. He was employed four years at Maine Medical Center in Portland and 27 years as a registered nurse anesthetist at Central Maine Medical Center, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a former honor guard member. He was also a member of Horizons 55, both the Lewiston and Holy Cross Senior Citizens, and the Holy Name Society.
Following retirement, he and his wife, Carmen, enjoyed traveling the West Coast of Alaska and also Hawaii. Dan was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife, the former Carmen Roy, whom he married April 28, 1962, of Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Couture of Leesburg, Fla., and Therese Paradis of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
