1954 – 2013

LEWISTON — Stephen Arthur Moreau, 58, of Lewiston, formerly of Jay, passed away peacefully with dignity on Feb. 6 at Hospice House. Disabled in automobile accidents, he eventually endured a very private esophageal cancer.

Stephen was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Farmington, a son of Arthur and Laura (Marchetti) Moreau of Jay.

He graduated from Jay High School and Kennebec Valley Tech with honors.His career as a carpenter, cabinet maker, and master craftsman led him to meet many wonderful friends at his well-respected Oboyshop. Stephen donated his time and pieces of fine furniture to worthy causes and was noted for his roll-top desks. He loved helping others with remodeling projects.

A long time paperboy, Stephen delivered the Sun Journal with his older brother, David, for over 20 years. He said his favorite job was gravedigging as a teenager with his cousin, Vinnie.

Stephen is survived by Jacelyn Newcomb; brother, David, and Phyllis; David’s sons, Ray and Matt and Matt’s wife, Jody Moreau; several nieces, nephews and many loving cousins. He will be missed by his friends, Al and Tammy, Brandie, Nickie, Elaine, Brenda, Tasha and his little angels, Zoey, Sage and Logan.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents; his sister, Janice Plante, in November 2012; her husband, Roger, of Jay; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins from the Moreau and Marchetti families.

Special thanks to many healthcare providers including Dr. John Mullen of Mass. General, Dr. Craig Lewis, his nurses of Livermore Falls, Dr. Guernelli and nurses at MRA of Lewiston, Dr. Catherine McCrann of Lewiston, Dr. Steven Gershman of Auburn, Dr. David Caldwell, his staff and nurses at the Hematology and Oncology Infusion Center at CMMC.

Stephen loved all his nurses on M1, his buddy, Larry, guardian angel, Rachael and Denise of the Dempsey Center. He spent his last few hours with close friends at Hospice House, where he received loving care. Special thanks to Rhonda Wiles-Rosell and Kent Wiles of the Wiles Remembrance Centers.
