1956 – 2013

FARMINGTON — David Douglas Witherell, 56, of Farmington, passed Tuesday Feb. 12 at his home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1956 in Farmington, the son of David E. and Shirley B. (Webber) Witherell. He graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1974 and went to work at Farmington Shoe. Doug met Luana Thompson and they were married Oct. 10, 1980. Later he went on to work for Farmington Waste & Water Treatment Plant and had other odd jobs over the years, including setting up tents and property maintenance. He enjoyed playing sports as a young man, fishing, horse shoes, was an avid NY Giants fan, watched NASCAR, and the Red Sox. As an adult, he was involved with softball and bowling leagues.

Doug is survived by his daughter, Oriana Keene, and her husband, Matthew, of Wilton; his son, Harley Witherell, and his fiancee, Lisa Charles, of Farmington; his mother, Shirley, of Farmington; five grandchildren, Malia, Brooklynn, Mason, Kyle and Anthony; two sisters, Patricia Moody, and her husband, Michael, and Cynthia Witherell; two nieces, Melissa Underwood, and her children, Tristan, Aidan and Caitlin, and Cindy Gillespie, and her husband, Mark, their children Ian and Eben Barker; two brother-in-laws, Kapoula Thompson, and his wife, Linda, their children, Keoni and Koa, and Kawika Thompson, and his wife, Erica, their children Kiana and Makao; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Luana; two daughters, Heather and Leilani; his father, David; and mother- and father-in-laws, Jay and Gordon Thompson.

The family is very appreciative of all those who helped and assisted Doug in the past 10 months since the passing of his wife.
