FARMINGTON — The Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) of Greater Franklin County is hosting several awareness events throughout the region regarding the importance of scheduling timely screenings for colon, prostate, and breast cancer.

The schedule is as follows: Tranten’s Market, Kingfield, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 19; Franklin Memorial Hospital Bass Room, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, special Go Red and Pink event for women with education and awareness of breast cancer, heart disease and mammography scheduling.

Also, Save-a-Lot, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 5; Food Pantry, Rangeley, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 12; Food Pantry, Phillips, 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 14.

Funding from the Avon Foundation Breast Health Outreach Program and the Maine Cancer Foundation make the events possible. In the case of inclement weather, if schools in the area are closed, the event will be rescheduled
