Spider-Man will visit Lewiston

LEWISTON — Advocates for Children joins with Marvel Comics to present children and families with an opportunity to have breakfast with Spider-Man while learning about bullying prevention strategies.

Spider-Man will be at the Green Ladle from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, to talk about what a bully does, ideas about what to do if/when one is being bullied and role-play scenarios with willing volunteers. This event is a great venue for parents and their children to have fun with a popular super-hero and discuss the importance of empathy for others.

Children will also learn the “Super-Hero Oath” and receive gift bags from Spider-Man for joining his breakfast party. There also will be fun Spider-Man raffle items available for families to win.

“Mistreated young people may grow up with diminished self-confidence and a sense of isolation and helplessness,” said Stan Davis, international expert on bullying prevention. “Youth who witness mean behavior repeatedly are also affected.”
