DEAR SUN SPOTS: I used to be a newspaper carrier for the Sun Journal. My route was in Auburn and included the area from Great Falls Plaza to North River Road to the Center Street area, Bobbin Mills Estates, Turner/Mayfield/Summer streets, to Western and Minot avenues, Cleveland and Marshall area, to Amberly Way, Briarcliff Knoll, and the area of outer Minot Avenue, Health Lane and Amherst Street.

On Jan. 10 I went for a stress test and ended up in the hospital. The catheterization did not work out, so I needed surgery. After a week in the hospital, I am home resting now, but I never got a chance to let my customers know what happened.

After delivering the Sun Journal for six years, I have come to the conclusion that I had the greatest customers anyone could ask for. Throughout the year I was always finding an envelope taped to a door. During the Christmas season there would be a card/gift waiting for me in the early morning.

Some customers even went a step further when my first grandson was born. And when I took my one weekend a year off, again there would be something waiting for me.

Somehow I have made a lot of friends while out delivering the paper in the early morning. That’s what I’m going to miss the most. The people who were up and standing at the door with conversation and a coffee in hand ready to give a cold carrier something to drink. How can I ever say thank you to that?

Those people made getting up at 12:30 every morning a lot easier. I never took this job for granted. I worked hard for everything thing I got. A big thank-you to each and every one of you. — David Bilodeau, Auburn

ANSWER: Before running this letter Sun Spots checked with David’s boss, Mike, who said that David was a terrific carrier and would always be welcomed back. It looks like the Sun Journal owes David a big thank-you as well!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do any of your readers know where I can get an old window cleaner, Glass Wah? — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t find anything. She thought maybe she misread your handwriting, so she also searched for Glass Wash, but she didn’t find that either. Readers?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I attended the games on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Mountain Valley. Wiscasset vs Mountain Valley basketball. I was wondering where I might find a story on Saturday’s games? Wiscasset boys lost, but our girls won. Thank you in advance. — louanne.pinkham@yahoo.com

ANSWER: You can read about the boys at sunjournal.com (http://tinyurl.com/a2m3m5r), but Sun Spots didn’t find anything for the girls.

Every weekend there are dozens of school games. There is no way Sun Journal reporters can cover them all, but if the coaches call in information (score, significant plays), that will appear in the local news roundup.

Also, Wiscasset is not in the Sun Journal’s normal coverage area, although of course Mountain Valley is.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Valentine’s Day Loaves and Fishes received an anonymous donation with a note saying: “My husband and I decided to not spend for cards and candy, roses, or eat out so that those in need may experience our shared love.” In the name of the recipients, I want to acknowledge the gift and wholeheartedly thank the donors. Blessings upon them and to all who contribute so generously to Loaves and Fishes. Many thanks. — Sister Lucille

ANSWER: What a wonderful thing to do!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I work for the animals at the animal shelter in Lewiston. I am knitting blankets for the cats in the shelter. If you know someone who has four-ply yarn (not cone) in light colors that they don’t use, please call me at 777-1593.

I don’t have a car. If you could bring the yarn to me, I will pay for your gas. I enjoy knitting. It passes the day. — Germaine Nolan, Lewiston
