NEW VINEYARD — Two men were injured Wednesday morning on Route 27 when a car and a plow truck collided head-on near Our Village Market, Franklin County Sheriff Cpl. Stephen Charles said.
Shermaine L. McDonald II, 17, of Farmington, was driving north in a car and Douglas P. Nile, 61, of New Vineyard, was driving a plow truck south when McDonald swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle waiting to turn into the market, crossed the centerline and struck the plow truck head-on, Charles said.
Snow and slush were factors in the 6:32 a.m. collision near the former My Wife’s Place, he said.
Nile was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Service ambulance with a minor head injury, Charles said. McDonald was transported by private vehicle to FMH with a wrist injury, he said.
Both were treated and released, FMH spokeswoman Jill Gray said.
Charles said he will issue McDonald a traffic summons for a suspension violation. McDonald’s license was administratively suspended, he said. It is not a criminal charge.
McDonald’s 2008 Dodge sedan was totaled, Charles said. Nile’s 1995 GMC truck received extensive damage to the plow and front end.
