VIENNA — Residents will decide on a road commissioner, town clerk and tax collector in three contested races  Friday.

Three selectmen candidates and a treasurer candidate are unopposed.

All elected municipal positions are for one year.

The polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Community Building on Kimball Pond Road.

The town meeting will reconvene at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Community Building.

Doris “Dodi” Thompson is seeking re-election Friday to the first selectman position she has held for more than 15 years, Town Clerk Connie Smith said Thursday.

Chris Smith is also seeking re-election for the second selectman position he has held for 10 years, Connie Smith, his wife, said.

Jeff Rackliff is running for the third selectman position.

Selectman Laura Church is not seeking re-election.

Martha Gross is seeking another term as treasurer, a position she has held for more than 10 years.

Troy Bean, Danny Goucher and Alan Williams are vying for road commissioner, Smith said. Road Commissioner Lenny Meader Jr. is not seeking re-election. He has held the position for eight years.

Connie Smith is being challenged by Annie Tibbetts for the town clerk and tax collector positions. Smith has held the town clerk position for 15 years and tax collector position for 14, she said.

Voters will be asked to consider 46 articles on Saturday at the town meeting.

If all articles pass, the 2013 budget will be $506,064, an increase of $8,547 over the 2012 budget, Smith said.

There are no ordinances to consider this year.
