Cat show, adoptable pets

AUGUSTA — A cat show this weekend at the Augusta Armory, 179 Western Ave., will include local shelters and rescues that will have many cats that need to be adopted immediately. Donations are also desperately needed to assist the shelters and rescue groups in their ongoing efforts.

The show is Friday, March 15, from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be household pets and also many other breeds of cats at the show from all over the United States.

St. Patrick’s Day dinner at Legion

MECHANIC FALLS — A St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the American Legion. Cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3.50 for children under 12. A bottle drive will also be held.

Fresh Air Fund information

GRAY — The Fresh Air Fund Information Night will be held at 6 p.m. March 18 at Fiddlehead Art and Science Center.

Pot roast supper is March 22

AUBURN — American Legion Post 31 will host a pot roast supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 426 Washington St.

Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children under 10.

Dinner will be followed by live music from 7 to 11 p.m. by Foreplay; price included with the meal.

U.N. policies to be topic

AUBURN — “The U.S. vs the U.N.” video will be shown at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Auburn Public Library’s conference room, next to the Library Cafe.

This free, half-hour video explains how the U.N. practices and policies infringe upon the freedoms guaranteed U.S. citizens under the Constitution.

Spring fair at Poland church

POLAND — The annual spring fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Poland Community Church, 1212 Main St., Route 26.

Poland’s fundraiser will be matched by the first $300 of Good Shepherd Food Bank.

ChocoLArt tickets on sale

New project promotes biz

NEW GLOUCESTER — Business owners and local organizations in New Gloucester can obtain free publicity by participating in Welcome, Neighbor, a grassroots community volunteer project. It was developed to welcome new residents to the town by providing information that may assist in their transition.

Only New Gloucester businesses, organizations and community groups will have the opportunity to include items such as business cards, brochures or other promotional materials in the packets. There’s no charge or obligation to participate.

Volunteers are collecting 100 of each item, and the deadline to drop off materials to the town office is Friday, March 29. For more information, or to volunteer to help assemble the packets, call Beth at 650-5228.

Knights plan Easter Egg Hunt

LEWISTON — The Holy Cross Knights of Columbus Council 12,652 will hold their second annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt from 1 to 3 p.m.  Saturday, March 30, in the Holy Cross Church Hall, 1080 Lisbon St.,

The event is free. There will be games, healthy snacks and an appearance by the Easter Bunny. Bring your camera for pictures with Easter Bunny.

Pike Award dinner at food bank

AUBURN — The sixth annual JoAnn Pike Humanitarian Award Dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Good Shepherd Food Bank warehouse, 3121 Hotel Road.

The event will feature a performance by the Pihcintu Multinational Children’s Choir, a nationally-recognized singing group sponsored by one of the food bank’s partner agencies, The Root Cellar; Fresh produce provided by one of the Food Bank’s Mainers Feeding Mainers farm partners, Jordan’s Farm in Cape Elizabeth; Specially designed food courses that will help tell the story of our work, prepared by some of the area’s preeminent chefs, including James Beard award-winner Rob Evans.

Dead River Company will be honored for its commitment to serving the state.
