LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens met Jan. 7 at the Lewiston Memorial Armory for their monthly meeting and lunch from Kentucky Fried Chicken. Anna Faucher’s 93rd birthday was celebrated. Pot of gold winners were Ray Mathieu, Willie Danforth, Toni Mathieu and Joanne Murch. Attendance winner was Claire Bilodeau.
Members met on Feb. 4 to hear about volunteer opportunities with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. Kathy Baillargeon from AHCH made a presentation on the agency and the roles of a volunteer. Norm Levesque and Bonnie Mathieu were chosen as King and Queen for Valentine’s Day. They received flowers and chocolates. The attendance award was won by Jane Chin. Pot of gold winners were Flo Anctil, Jeannette St. Pierre, Marguerite Larochelle, Claudette Bussiere and Normand Levesque. Birthdays were celebrated. Flo Anctil, who celebrated her 93rd birthday in February, was thanked for all her years of service.
The following trips are being offered by Lewiston Seniors.
May 18-26: Pigeon Forge, Tenn,. and The Smoky Mountains. Trip includes eight nights lodging, 14 meals, guided tour of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and six shows. There will be free time in historic Gatlinburg. Price is $745 per person based on double occupancy. A $75 deposit is due upon signing. Final payment is due March 28.
June 27: Charles River Sightseeing Tour in Cambridge, Mass. Lunch at the Cheesecake Factory will be followed by a boat cruise in the harbor and free time to shop at the Galleria Mall. Price is $77 per person due at signing. The deadline is June 7.
July 18: Portland Trolley Ride and Foodie Tour. Enjoy a trolley ride and sample Portland’s chefs and brew masters’ creative delights. Trip is limited to 22. Price is $86 due at signing. The deadline is May 17.
Aug. 1: Boothbay Botanical Gardens Trip. Includes lunch and free time. Price is $57 due at signing. Deadline is July 12.
Sept. 7: Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. Music, crafts and food. Price is $50 due at signing. Deadline is Aug. 16.
Sept 27 to Oct. 1: Ottawa and the Thousand Islands. Trip includes four night lodging, seven meals, guided tour of Ottawa and Parliament Hill, Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Casino Du Lac Leamy, visit to the Thousand Islands Region, cruise on the St. Lawrence River. Price is $529 per person. A $75 deposit is due at signing. Final payment is due Aug. 22.
Oct. 10-22: Hawaiian cruise. Trip includes two nights in San Francisco, a seven-night cruise with all meals included, two nights in Honolulu, a cruise around Pearl Harbor and more. Dube’s Travel is handling all reservations. For more details or to receive a brochure, call Dube’s Travel at 784-2916.
