DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Rumford United Methodist Church folks are looking forward to their fifth annual Spring Fling indoor yard sale. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 25.

The bake table and the plant pavilion will also again be included.

We would appreciate donations of any of those things, except for clothing and books.

For more information, please call Kathy at 392-1285. — Peggy, crescentpeg@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends will hold its annual Easter bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, at Petlife in the Lewiston Mall and needs bakers and candy makers to supply goodies to sell.

Tommy’s is a nonprofit shelter in Greene that provides food, housing and medical care for feral cats. They currently care for hundreds of cats and are always in need of donations.

The feral cats they care for are the result of the kittens produced by people not spaying and neutering their cats or those who are abandoned. These cats would be left to starve to death if not for Tommy’s.

If you would like to bake, we need a lot of bakers, please contact me at 650-8374 for more information. — Norm, normblais39@yahoo.com

ANSWER: Tommy’s also has a Facebook page with photos of some of the cats they care for. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.

Anyone who has a pet they cannot afford to neuter can call the Fix ME program at 800-367-1317 or their local humane society to see if they are eligible for assistance.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This inquiry is for all descendants of Philemon Hewett and Lydia Timberlake, James Timberlake and Judith Crane, and James Norton and Rebecca Campbell:

I was born and raised in Norton County, Kan., and live in Topeka, Kan. My great-grandfather, Dana Norton Hewett was born in Livermore, homesteaded in Norton County in 1883, stayed and died there. His parents were Asa Hewett and Amanda Norton. Their parents were Philemon Hewett and Lydia Timberlake and James Norton and Rebecca Campbell. Lydia’s were James Timberlake and Judith Crane.

These Maine ancestors are buried in Androscoggin County. Asa has no living descendants in Maine.

I want to make contact with as many cousins as possible between April 9 and April 17. My wife and I will be staying at the Super 8 Motel, 395 Western Ave., Augusta, evenings only, unless meetings are scheduled. During the days, we will be visiting various cemeteries libraries, and museums in the area.

There will be another cousin there during that period, Sharon Hicks, from Carson City, Nev. She is descended from Arthur Adelbert Hewett, another son of Asa. Arthur is also buried in Androscoggin County. Besides the lines mentioned above, she will be researching Rosa Harlow’s lines, wife of Arthur. If anyone knows anything about the Harlows, please contact her.

My contact information before we leave Kansas is dkstamp@cox.net and/or karen.hewett@yahoo.com. In Maine, it will be 785-633-1793 and 785-633-8181. Sharon’s email is bassngall@msn.com.

I sincerely hope that many cousins will contact me. — Dana S. Hewett Jr.
