RUMFORD — Joseph B. “Hawkeye” Thibodeau, 83, of Swain Road, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, at Rumford Hospital.
He was born in Mexico, June 10, 1929, a son of Joseph L. and Rose (Duguay) Thibodeau. Joseph attended St. Theresa’s School and was a graduate of Mexico High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Joseph was married to Patricia (Touchette) on Sept. 4, 1956; together they celebrated 56 years of marriage; she passed away on Jan. 28, 2012.
He was employed for 42 years with Boise Cascade. Joseph was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. He was a member of the American Legion. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his children, Sheryl O’Leary and husband, John, of Rumford, William F. Thibodeau of Rumford, Jackie Waugh of Dallas, Texas, Joseph Thibodeau and wife, Paula, of Auburn, Julie Gaudet and husband, Wayne of Morrisville, Vt., and Bernie Thibodeau and wife, Rebecca, of Rumford; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Patricia; four brothers, Romeo, Bill, Jack and Bobby; two sisters, Louise and Vivian; and a great-grandson, Lucas Vining.
