FARMINGTON — RSU 9 directors Tuesday unanimously approved Bruce Mochamer of Farmington as Mt. Blue High School assistant principal.

Mochamer will replace Randy Cook, who plans to retire at the end of the school year. He has been with the district 42 years.

Mochamer’s two-year contract, which begins July 1, provides the same salary and benefits as Cook, Superintendent Michael Cormier told the board.

With 28 years of experience as a teacher, assistant principal and principal at Skowhegan Middle School, Mochamer returns to RSU 9 where he began teaching. He taught science at Mt. Blue Middle School for 12 years before leaving to teach science at Skowhegan Middle School where he’s been for the past 14 years.

“I love where I am but to be closer to home . . . the opportunity only comes along so often,” he said.

He said he looks forward to working with Principal Monique Poulin, whom he has known for several years.

“She’s very kid-centered,” he said.

He is also looking forward to the challenge.

“After 28 years, I’m moving on from middle school to high school,” he said. It will be an opportunity to see students as they move on to graduation, he added.
