FARMINGTON — During a brief caucus Thursday, selectmen from Farmington and New Sharon elected Andrew Hufnagel of Farmington to serve on the Franklin County Budget Advisory Committee.
After Hufnagel was nominated by Farmington board Chairman Ryan Morgan, New Sharon Selectman Russell Gardner offered his services.
He then voted for Hufnagel, as did Farmington Selectmen Morgan, Hufnagel, Joshua Bell and Jessica Berry, making the vote unanimous.
The caucus was held to replace committee member Stephan Bunker who lost his bid for re-election to the Farmington board earlier this month.
The Franklin County commissioners will begin their review of all county department budgets next week before it’s considered by the county Budget Advisory Committee, Vickie Braley, deputy county clerk, said.
The county commission has three districts: District 1 includes Carthage, Jay and Wilton; District 2 includes Chesterville, Farmington and New Sharon; and District 3 includes Industry and towns north of Farmington. Each district gets three representatives who serve three years, if they remain as selectmen.
District 1 representatives are Tim Demillo of Jay, Scott Taylor and Terry Brann of Wilton.
District 2 representatives are Hufnagel, Morgan and David Archer of Chesterville.
District 3 representatives are Cary Keep of Rangeley, John Calloway of Avon, chairman of the committee, and Mike Pond of Strong.
