BYRON – The Board of Selectmen meeting has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. Friday.
The meeting was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. April 4.
Selectman David Noyes said Thursday evening, “I found a note in my mailbox at the town office that said it was switched to Friday, but I’m not sure why.”
Head Selectman Anne Simmons-Edmunds and Selectman Patrick Knapp-Veilleux could not be reached for comment Thursday evening.
Among the items to likely be discussed is the recall petition submitted by resident Robert P. Bourassa, asking for Simmons-Edmunds’ removal from office.
Bourassa’s petition was submitted nearly two weeks after residents overwhelmingly voted against a mandatory firearms possession article at the annual town meeting.
The petition provided five reasons why Simmons-Edmunds should be recalled and removed from office, including subjecting residents of the town to ridicule, embarrassment and disrepute, failing to inform voters of a state law that would have voided the firearm ordinance, if passed, and misleading voters at the annual town meeting regarding a newspaper story about her by telling them she was misquoted.
